Nightmare fuel — Hacktoria contract walkthrough (Understanding OSINT)
OSINT stands for Open source intelligence. It basically means to gather information of a target, by using the internet and some additional tools.
We will understand OSINT by doing a challenge (contract) available on the internet called Nightmare fuel, available on Hacktoria. It is an OSINT challenge (contract) in which description is already given. Using the info given and the internet, we have to find the password of the linkfile.zip.
Let’s begin…
- Go to hacktoria website to the challenge page. Here is the link: “Nightmare Fuel”.
2. Read the description carefully, so that you can understand what is being asked.
3. Download the Linkfile (zip file) and the Body cam video, so that we can analyze the video to find the password for the linkfile, and thus complete the contract.
4. Let’s play the video using vlc player.

5. So, click on ‘Tools’ and select ‘Media Information’. Oh look, there we go.
6. I think the text in the comments section is the password of linkfile. Let’s give it a try, so copy paste the password from the comments section in your linkfile.
Boom! I got the file! So, we have a link inside this text file. Paste the link in your browser and, your mission will be completed and you will be awarded a contract card like this one!
